The Rothesay High School Alumni Bursary Fund
The Rothesay High School Alumni Bursary Fund was established in 2021 to support Rothesay High School graduates pursuing post-secondary education. The bursary rewards students demonstrating perseverance, strong work ethic, leadership, and community involvement.
In 2020, The Rothesay High Alumni Association was created by future and current alumni, to include graduates of both Rothesay High School and its predecessor Rothesay Regional High School.
From 1951 – 1975, the communities of Renforth through to Hammond River were served by Rothesay Regional High School, enrolling students from grades seven to twelve. In 1998, Rothesay High School was opened to educate the students of Rothesay and surrounding areas, grades nine to twelve.
In 2021 a member of the Rothesay High School Alumni Association established a permanent endowment fund, ‘The Rothesay High School Alumni Bursary Fund,’ with The Community Foundation in order to award bursaries to students who have graduated from Rothesay High School and are pursuing a post-secondary education.
Perseverance to succeed, solid work ethic, leadership qualities and community involvement shall form the criteria for consideration in awarding the bursaries.

More funds
The Joshua Porter Gunn Bursary Fund honors Josh’s legacy of positivity and determination. It provides annual bursaries to graduating students from St. Malachy’s and Simonds High School, supporting those with financial need, strong academics, leadership, and involvement in sports, particularly hockey.
The Charles F. W. Starkey Memorial Scholarship Fund supports Cambridge Narrows graduates in post-secondary education.
The Saint John Volunteer Centre, founded in 1975, ceased operations in 2020 and established the Dr. M. Christie Memorial Bursary in honor of Dr. Florence M. Christie. The bursary supports a mature female graduate from Greater Saint John with financial need, volunteer experience, pursuing post-secondary education at UNB Saint John.
The Saint John Law Society Bursary Fund helps local high school graduates pursue post-secondary education. Established in 2003, this endowed fund awards a deserving student each year, fostering academic success.
