In order to give back to the community, the Cook family of Saint John created a fund that supports the charity of their choice, along with a scholarship for UNBSJ students.
In order to give back to the community, the Cook family of Saint John created a fund that supports the charity of their choice, along with a scholarship for UNBSJ students.
The annual award, valued at a minimum of $2,000, will recognize the efforts of a Saint John area UNBSJ student with advanced standing, pursuing studies in English – a particular interest of the donors. Applications for the bursary are directed to UNBSJ. Earnings from the permanently endowed fund may be directed to a Saint John area charitable organization.

More funds
In the 1950s, a group from Belleisle raised funds to build a medical office, forming the Belleisle Valley Health Centre. Proceeds from its sale now fund scholarships for Belleisle Regional High School graduates in health-related fields through this endowed fund.
This fund supports MBA students at UNB Saint John who demonstrate academic excellence and community involvement, honoring the Flewellings’ legacy of education and service.
The Saint John Country Music Week Legacy Fund was established from the success of the 2006 Canadian Country Music Awards in Saint John. The fund supports graduating high school students pursuing post-secondary music studies and enhances local school music programs.
The Michael Saunders Bursary Fund, established in 2023, supports a Harbour View High School student pursuing a trade program at any NBCC Campus.
