Every March, when Sistema receives a check from the Community Foundation from the ‘Sistema Forever Fund’, they will remember Jacob Brown, and his enduring impact on the lives of countless children through music.

Jacob’s own life was a testament to the transformative power of music. As an alumnus of Saint John High School and a lifelong lover of music, he expressed himself through singing, piano, and clarinet. He was an active member of various music communities, participating in bands, school choirs, church choirs, and the Saint John Men’s Chorus.

Sistema has demonstrated that music is not just an art form; it’s a tool for social change. It instills joy, motivation, discipline, and teamwork in young musicians, fostering confidence and self-esteem. Any child, regardless of background, who shows enthusiasm and dedication, is provided with an instrument and free instruction, inspiring them to work hard and achieve their full potential. Jacob’s legacy will provide this for more and more children in perpetuity through the endowment fund.

“We are very honored to establish this fund in Jay’s memory. He was passionate with a desire to support and help others develop their full potential. Combining this personal attribute with his love of music is the inspiration for this fund.” – Andrea and Heinz Schaerer
