The Naval Memorial Fund

This fund supports the maintenance of the Naval Memorial along Harbour Passage, commemorating the Battle of the Atlantic and honoring those who served at sea. It also funds the HCapt(N) Noël Kinsella Memorial Bursary, awarded to post-secondary students who are or were members of HMCS Brunswicker or a New Brunswick-based Royal Canadian Sea Cadet unit.

On May 15th, 2019, representatives from the Royal United Services Institute of New Brunswick (RUSI-NB), HMCS Brunswicker and the Community Foundation gathered to permanently establish The Naval Memorial Fund.  Annual earnings generated by the Fund will support required maintenance and repairs to be the soon to be erected – Naval Memorial to be located along Harbour Passage. This Monument serves as a memorial to commemorate the Battle of the Atlantic (1939-1945) and will also provide a constant reminder of all those who lost their lives while serving their country at sea in the cause of peace.

In addition to preserving the Monument, this Fund will also support the pursuit of post-secondary education through the awarding of bursaries, to be called “The HCapt(N) Noël Kinsella Memorial Bursary”. Eligible candidates for the bursaries will be students who are or who have been a member of the HMCS Brunswicker or of any New Brunswick-based unit of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets.
