The Milton and Patricia Bassen Bursary Fund
The Milton and Patricia Bassen Bursary Fund, established in 2013, awards annual bursaries to first-year students from Greater Saint John at UNB Saint John and St. Thomas University, based on financial need and academic merit.
Per the wishes of the late Mrs. Patricia A. Bassen and her late husband Milton, a bequest was made to The Community Foundation in 2013, with a permanently endowed fund established that that time.
The Milton and Patricia Bassen Bursary Fund provides a bursary of a minimum of $500 to two first year students each year; one student at the University of New Brunswick – Saint John, and another at St. Thomas University in Fredericton.
For students at the University of New Brunswick, the university will award one bursary each year to a Saint John campus student, from the Greater Saint John area, that is beginning an undergraduate program.
For students at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, the bursary is awarded to a promising student from the Greater Saint John area entering into his or her first year of studies at St. Thomas University, who has demonstrated both financial need and strong academic standing.
