The L’Arche Saint John Endowment Fund was established in 2025 by the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception to provide long-term, sustainable support for the life-changing work of L’Arche Saint John.

L’Arche Saint John is a registered charity that supports people with intellectual disabilities by fostering genuine, life-sharing relationships that recognize and celebrate the unique gifts of every individual. Through inclusive community living, L’Arche Saint John helps transform not only the lives of people with disabilities, but also the wider community.

The Sisters of Charity have been long-time and dedicated supporters of L’Arche Saint John. This endowment reflects their commitment to ensuring that L’Arche Saint John can continue its mission in Greater Saint John for generations to come. Beginning in 2026, the fund provides ongoing annual support to L’Arche Saint John’s programs and operations within Greater Saint John.

Founded in 1854, the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception (SCIC) emerged in response to the urgent needs of Irish immigrants arriving in Saint John during cholera epidemics. This moment shaped a lasting mission of care for orphans, the sick, the elderly, and those living in poverty throughout Greater Saint John.

Today, the Sisters continue their commitment through advocacy for social and ecological justice, racial and social equality, peace, and truth and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

The L’Arche Saint John Endowment Fund is a powerful example of how endowment giving can create lasting impact. By providing stable, annual funding, the fund helps ensure that people with intellectual disabilities in our community are supported, valued, and included—today and well into the future.
