The Friends of St. Peter’s Ballpark Fund
Community partners are raising funds to restore this historic neighbourhood field, creating a safe and welcoming space for children, families, and baseball players for generations to come.
The Greater Saint John Community Foundation is proud to partner with the City of Saint John to establish a dedicated fund in support of the Friends of St. Peter's Ballpark, a community-led fundraising effort to breathe new life into one of Saint John's beloved neighbourhood gathering places.
This once cherished field in the Old North End lies just between Main Street and Douglas Avenue. Historians have told us that baseball has been played in the area since 1904 and photos show baseball being played at the field in 1923.
In 2015 the field was decommissioned and fell into a state of disrepair. With a surging interest in baseball programs and a new community plan for the North End, ‘The Friends of St. Peter’s’, a volunteer community group is leading the charge to raise funds to restore the field in the heart of the community.
Together, we're working to raise $50,000 to help unlock the final funding needed to make this revitalization a reality.
We're in great company. The Jays Care Foundation (Toronto Blue Jays) and the City of Saint John have already stepped up to the plate as committed funders.
Your donation will support phase 1 of the revitalization project. The phase 1 of the revitalization will make the field playable and includes:
- Field leveling and resurfacing
- A new backstop and safety netting
- New perimeter fencing
- Rebuilt dugouts and stairs
- New bleachers
A revitalized St. Peter's Ballpark means more safe, joyful, and accessible play for children and youth, families, and neighbours.
Every gift makes a difference. Donations to this fund are eligible for an Official Donation Receipt. The Community Foundation will grant funds directly to the City of Saint John to support these revitalization efforts.
