The Discovery Day Camps Fund was created in 2026 by the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception to support summer programs through UNB Saint John’s Promise Partnership, helping children learn, connect, and thrive.
The Discovery Day Camps Fund was established in 2026 through a generous gift from the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception, a congregation with a long and deeply rooted history of serving vulnerable communities in New Brunswick and beyond.
For generations, the Sisters have been leaders in education, social justice, and compassionate care, supporting initiatives that uplift children, families, and those facing barriers. Their commitment to dignity, inclusion, and community well-being continues through this investment in local youth.
This fund supports the University of New Brunswick Saint John’s Promise Partnership, a long-standing initiative that has provided peer-to-peer mentoring and tutoring to children and youth for more than 15 years. Focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM), the program helps young people build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and see new possibilities for their futures.
Building on this foundation, the Promise Partnership created Discovery Day Camps, summer programs designed to keep children engaged in learning during a time when many experience learning loss, isolation, and increased food insecurity. These camps offer hands-on, interactive experiences that spark curiosity and creativity, while also providing a safe, supportive environment where children can connect with peers and mentors.
Beginning in 2026, the fund provides annual grants to directly support the delivery of these camps, helping ensure that more children and youth across Greater Saint John can access meaningful summer programming.
Managed by the Greater Saint John Community Foundation, the fund is invested in alignment with strong ethical and socially responsible principles, ensuring that its impact reflects the values of the Sisters while creating lasting benefit for the community.
Through this fund, the Sisters of Charity of the Immaculate Conception continue their legacy, helping young people learn, grow, and thrive.
