The Children’s Aid Fund was established in 2005 after The Friends of the Children’s Aid Society of Saint John partnered with The Community Foundation to create a permanently endowed fund to support charities that directly benefit children in the Greater Saint John area.

The Friends of the Children’s Aid Society spent 36 years working in the Saint John community to ensure that children in need were receiving support by making grants to day cares, free milk programs, and the support of teen mothers.

As time went on, the leadership of The Friends of the Children’s Aid Society began to see some clear benefits of transferring their funds to The Community Foundation – most importantly that all funds would continue to benefit local children.

So in 2004/2005, all funds from The Friends of the Children’s Aid Society of Saint John County Inc. were transferred to The Community Foundation where they have benefited from the Foundation’s solid asset base and strong reputation for doing great work in the Great Saint John area.
